EDM Machine and Power Supply |
If you have a Xermac or ERM Electrical
Discharge Machine, there isn't anyone better at repairing,
upgrading, or rebuilding them than EDM Zap. With a wide range of
parts and supplies available, we can help keep your equipment
productive and profitable for years. Service:
EDM Zap services and supports virtually all ERM and Xermac
equipment. From the X-12 to the X-80 CNC. Including power supplies
under the ERM name HP and HPD to the Xermac FX series including the
popular FX-100. From Chicago, EDM Zap travels all over North America
to service equipment in the field. Many times we can diagnose the
problem over the phone and you can simply send in components for
repair. EDM Zap was a dealer for Xermac
and provided factory service. In addition, our lead engineer worked
with Xermac to design and build equipment.
Parts:
If you need parts for your machine, EDM Zap can help. We offer pump
parts, leadscrews, motors, gaskets, filters, switches and much more.
For your ERM/Xermac power supply, we can repair boards, provide
parts such as switches, blowers, cables, and electronic components.
We also have operator and maintenance manuals.
Upgrades:
Many times, the life of the machine can outlive the live of the
power supply's electronic components. EDM Zap can service your
equipment to keep it up and running like new. If you need more out
of your EDM, EDM Zap offers replacement power supplies that are
virtually plug and play with Xermac equipment and outperform new
equipment at a fraction of the cost.
Models:
Xermac built a variety of machines from manual and programmable to
full CNC versions. Power supplies came in a variety of amps and sizes
including machine mountable versions.
Power Supplies: Under ERM the power supplies were called HP for
single and HPD for dual. The HP series included the HP-30, 60, 120.
HPD series featured the HPD-120 and 240. Under the Xermac name, it
was called the FX series. FX series included the FX-25, 50, 100,
200, 400. CNC power supplies were called XHC and included the
XHC-120, 240, 480.
Machines: Early on, the machines were numbered by machine table.
Later they created the X series that included X-12, 20, 25, 30, 40,
54, and 80. Different designations included features, for example
the X-54ST and X-80ST were slight variations. In addition, they
created machines that were programmable on the Z axis called PZ and
most of the X machines were available in a PZ model including X-20PZ
and X-40PZ. Xermac also had the Millennium or international line
that featured the Xi-14, 16, 20, and 32.
Please note: additional models were manufactured that are not
listed.
History of Xermac:
When Elox, the largest manufacturer of EDM equipment at the time,
decided to move its operations out of Michigan to North Carolina
several engineers stayed and formed their own company. They called
it ERM, established in 1969. In the beginning they made power
supplies and later started making machines. In the 1980's, ERM
wanted to update their name and changed it to Xermac. Continuing to
build some of the best and most rugged machines - including the
supersize Xermac X-80 with a capacity of 30,000 lbs, they served
mainly the automotive and aerospace industry. Unfortunately, the
decline of manufacturing in the US led to Xermac being sold and
later the company that bought them went out of business.
